Initially, the flavors had quirky names like Pink Fink, Adults Only, Moonshine, Sticky Icky, and Redeye. In 1990, after Southland, the parent company of 7-Eleven, declared bankruptcy, 7-Eleven Japan acquired 70% of the business for $430 million and immediately started renovating the U.S. locations in 1991.
