He also expanded his rule to neighboring lands. Kamehameha’s strength and prophetic signs, such as his ability to lift the Naha Stone, further solidified his status as a great leader. He formed alliances with foreigners, including John Young and Isaac Davis, and used Western weaponry to further his conquests. By 1810, Kamehameha had become the first king to govern over the entire chain of Hawaiian Islands. His reign brought both progress and the preservation of traditional laws and regulations. Upon his death in 1819, his son Liholiho succeeded him as Kamehameha II, followed by his brother Kauikeaouli as Kamehameha III.
